Charity isn't free. That seems like a simple enough statement and maybe to some a contadictory statement. The fact is charitable grants can require a lot of work and resources.  The Central Rural Electric Foundation makes grants available to needy causes in the community but we have to get our financial resources from donations.  Some of the possible sources of funding we are hope to access are:

  • Designated Giving
  • Gifts
  • Capital Campaign
  • Endowments
  • Estates

The pages referenced here will explain how we currently get our financial resources.

The members of Central Rural Electric Cooperative now have the opportunity to donate to the Central Rural Electric Foundation through an exciting new program:  Operation Round Up®.  Operation Round Up® funds are distributed to individuals and organizations for disaster relief, personal needs, education, and health care  by the Centreal Rural Electric Foundation.

How does Operation Round Up® work?

Simply stated, Operation Round Up® gathers voluntary contributions from participating cooperative members by “rounding up” their monthly electric bills to the next dollar.  For example, if a CREC member’s monthly bill was $52.73 it would be automatically rounded up to $53.00, with the additional 27 cents going to the Operation Round Up® fund.  The average donation per CREC account will be roughly six dollars a year, which will be distributed to worthy local causes through the Central Rural Electric Foundation. Participation in Operation Round Up® is strictly voluntary and CREC members who do not wish to participate in the program can opt out.

All Operation Round Up® donations go to the Central Rural Electric Foundation. The Central Rural Electric Foundation is administered by an independent nine-member board of directors.  Applications submitted by qualified individuals or oragainizations will be considered by the foundation’s board of directors.  The members and the public will see how the donations are working to help those in need through reports about Operation Round Up® in the CREC Newsletter and through news releases.
