Foundation board awards grants at June meeting

The Cental Rural Electric Foundation funded six grants at the June board meeting.  A total of $8,885 was approved.

The Wellston Community Library was awarded a grant to help purchase a building to house their first permanent community library.  The town began the process in January 2006 with the establishment of a Wellston Community Library Board of Directors and was issued a Certificate of Incorporation on March 13.

Also approved for a grant was the Stroud Food Pantry.  The not-for-profit organization hopes to effectively address their basic mission of providing nourishment for senior citizens and low-income families in their area with the donated money.  The pantry tries to provide each household five days worth of nourishing meals.

Four of the grants were awarded to individuals at the meeting.  An air-conditioning unit and a wheelchair ramp were among the needs fulfilled by the grants.
